We're GROWING!!! Shepherd's Haven has completed the construction of a new semi-independent home for adults with developmental disabilities! Shepherd's Haven already had a beautiful facility for men with special needs, and can now provide the same warm, Christian environment for women. The new home is located on the 47 acres owned by Shepherd's Haven in Arlington, TN.

Shepherd's Haven partnered with several members of the community to make this vision become a reality. Doug Enoch, of Enoch & Associates, rendered the architectural plans for the home. Barry Duke donated the builder's fee and oversaw the project. Bill Ollar, a local engineer and developer, and Bill Powell, a real-estate appraiser and developer, also joined us in this venture.

The semi-independent home has eight private rooms, four bathrooms, a common area, a beautiful kitchen, two laundry areas, and a large dining room. Shepherd's Haven is not an institution. Each home has the feel of any warm, loving, Christian home.

The objective of the Shepherd's Haven home is to minister to adults with special needs and help them grow in their independence. A recent study published in the Journal of Developmental and Physical Disabilities shows that the independent skills of mentally handicapped adults are better developed when learned from their peers. The staff of Shepherd's Haven encourages the residents to assist each other with daily tasks and to show each other Christ's love. As the staff of Shepherd's Haven shows our participants the love of Christ and encourages them to show that love to each other, the participants will be impacted and they, in turn, will impact others in the community.
